I have always been fascinated by the colorful and vibrant celebrations of Holi, the festival of colors in India. This year, I decided to experience the Braj Ki Holi, celebrated in the Braj region of Uttar Pradesh, which includes Mathura and Vrindavan, and also extend my trip to Jaipur, known for its grand Holi celebrations. I booked a Mathura Vrindavan tour package that included all the major Holi events and also added a few days in Jaipur to explore the city. Another available tour package is Agra Mathura Vrindavan Tour Package which gives a complete insight and amazing expereince.
My journey started in Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna and the epicenter of the Braj Ki Holi celebrations. As I stepped out of the train station, I was welcomed by the vibrant colors and the joyful chants of "Holi Hai." My guide took me to the Dwarkadhish Temple, where I witnessed the traditional Lathmar Holi, where women playfully beat men with sticks. It was an amazing sight to see the locals dressed in colorful traditional clothes, singing and dancing to the beats of dhol and nagada.
The next day, I visited Vrindavan, a town known for its association with Lord Krishna and his beloved Radha. The atmosphere was electric, with people throwing colors and water at each other, and the streets were filled with music and dance. I visited the Banke Bihari Temple, one of the most famous temples in Vrindavan, and saw the phoolon wali holi or flower Holi, where flowers are thrown instead of colors. The experience was surreal, and I felt completely immersed in the festive spirit.
Apart from the Holi celebrations, I also indulged in some of the local foods, such as the famous Mathura peda and the delicious chaat. I also visited the Vishram Ghat and took a boat ride in the holy river Yamuna, which was a peaceful experience amidst the chaos of the festivities.
After spending three days in Mathura and Vrindavan, I left for Jaipur to experience the grandeur of Holi in the royal city. The highlight of my trip to Jaipur was the Elephant Festival, which is celebrated on the eve of Holi. I saw beautifully decorated elephants, adorned with bright colors and intricate designs, walking in a procession, and people dancing and playing music around them. It was a surreal sight to behold.
On the day of Holi, I went to the City Palace, where the royal family hosts a grand celebration every year. I was amazed to see the palace decorated with colorful lights and flowers, and the courtyard filled with people of all ages, drenched in colors. The celebrations included live music, dance performances, and a lavish spread of traditional Rajasthani cuisine.
I also explored the other attractions of Jaipur, such as the Amer Fort, Hawa Mahal, and Jantar Mantar, which were magnificent and showcased the rich history and culture of the city. I also tried the local delicacies, such as the famous Rajasthani thali, dal bati churma, and the refreshing chaas.
Overall, my travel experience of Braj Ki Holi in Mathura Vrindavan tour was truly unforgettable. It was a journey that allowed me to witness the vibrancy and cultural diversity of India, and also indulge in the local foods and experiences. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in the spirit of Holi and explore the beautiful cities of India.
